QIK: Queer in Kingston

Queer in Kingston (QIK) has been designed for LGBTQIA+ young people aged 12 to 17.

QIK is a free and confidential weekly social group. It is a welcoming space for young people who identify as LGBTQIA+ or are questioning identity.

QIK aims to provide a space for connection with other LGBTQIA+ youth in Kingston.

Eligibility

To join QIK, you must be:

  • Between the ages of 12 and 17
  • Connected to the City of Kingston (live, work, study).

Not between the ages of 12 to 17? We offer Pride Connect, a social group for 18 to 25 year olds.

City of Kingston are dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming space for all young people. This is regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or sex characteristics.

This commitment is supported by the Youth Services Team undergoing Rainbow Tick Accreditation.

Rainbow Tick Accreditation involves a review of our services and cultural safety for LGBTQIA+ youth. It also considers how we can create a more inclusive environment for our staff and young people.

This accreditation process ensures we're offering the best services that are welcoming to all.

Our team has completed LGBTQIA+ Inclusion education as part of their roles.
