Youth advisory committee (YAC)
The YAC is a group of young people in Kingston who have a direct say in shaping the future of the city for young people. They meet with council members, advising on important issues affecting Kingston's young people.
This includes:
- Creating effective programs and services
- Consulting on key strategic directions
- Identifying opportunities and challenges faced by young people in the community
- Advocating on their behalf.

The YAC is a fantastic opportunity to:
- Make a real difference. Heard are your ideas by decision-makers. This will directly influence policies that impact young people in Kingston.
- Develop leadership skills. Through meeting participation, you will gain experience in public speaking, collaboration, and advocacy.
- Learn about local government. Gain firsthand knowledge of how local government works. Learn about the youth services available in Kingston and surrounding areas.
- Network with other young leaders. Connect with young people who share your desire to make Kingston a better place for young people.
Eligibility
To be eligible to join our Youth Advisory Committee, you must be:
- Be between the ages of 12 and 25
- Connected to the City of Kingston (live, work, study)
- Committed to attending monthly meetings.
