2023-2026 Kingston Youth Strategy and Action Plan now available

6 April 2023

Our 2023-2026 Kingston Youth Strategy and 2023 Action and Evaluation Plan is now available.

Thank you to the 947 voices we captured from young people, parents/carers and our educators and service providers that contributed their thoughts, aspirations and ideas in 2022. We are very excited to bring those ideas together and provide services, support and actions that prioritises local need.

At our official launch held on 30 March 2023, Mayor Hadi Saab stated “the Youth Strategy we are launching here today will guide a range of programs and services over the next four years to support young people aged 12-25.

Importantly, it was not simply designed for young people but by our young people. That crucial engagement gave our younger residents the opportunity to share their ideas and opinions with us.

That input allowed Kingston Youth Services to draw up an action plan that is relevant and will be effective in tailoring services to the needs of our youth”. The Youth Strategy “focuses on creating an environment where young people feel safe, engaged and heard. Creating a place where young people feel welcome and their individuality and contributions are acknowledged, valued, and celebrated.”

We would like to extend a further thank you to our participants in our Youth Advisory Committee (pictured) that worked with Kingston Youth Services to ensure young people’s voices were heard and considered. A special thanks to Cochrane Research Solutions for assistance in developing these important documents and collating the consultation findings, background information, research and evaluation framework.
