Parent Education Programs & Support Groups
Kingston Family Support Service offers a number of Parent Education Programs & Support Groups throughout the year. These services provide the opportunity to socialise with other parents and carers in the local area, meet with family services staff and participate in regular informative and recreational activities whilst also gaining valuable information, education and support.
What’s On for 2019
The Strengthening and Raising Healthy Family Program will be delivered by the Kingston Family Support Service staff, and will run consecutively for 8 weeks at the Westall Community Hub.
The purpose of the program is to provide parents with support and education in raising healthy children and families. The weekly sessions will assist parents to undertake positive parenting through mutual respect, assist in developing an understanding of the ages and stages of child development, and learn positive strategies and boundaries that will yield better outcomes in their children’s behaviour, including understanding the importance play and its impact on their emotional, cognitive and social development.
The program is structured to train and educate parents in the implementation of strategies and techniques, that will enable them to understand these crucial stages in their children’s development, increase their community resources awareness and service utilisation.
This program will provide parents with information that will empower them to understand the need for positive parenting and assist them in raising healthy families.
